The Church of Light is one of Ando's most famous buildings. The structure is composed of a rectangular concrete box, intersected at a 15° angle by a free-standing wall, which defines the church entrance. The church is known for its cross-shaped window behind the altar, which dramatically floods the interior with light.

The Church on the Water is composed of two cubes. The larger cube serves as the chapel and is connected with the entrance of the smaller cube with a semi-circular, spiral staircase.

The chapel features a spectacular view of the pond and the surrounding trees and hills.
